A guest lecture on “Geo-social Intelligence to aid Disaster Response” by Dr.RohanWickramasooriya , Research Fellow in Geomatics Engineering at the SMART Infrastructure Facility, University of Wollongong , Australia was organized by OSGeo Lab with the Faculty of Engineering . It was held on Monday 23rd February 2015, 1.30 p.m.-2.30 p.m. at the Engineering Faculty, Hall 106. Dr. Rohan Wickramasooriya gave an overview of the SMART project going on at University Wollongong and application of different technologies there. The lecture was followed by a discussion on possible research collaborations with SLIIT and the SMART Infrastructure Facility and postgraduate opportunities available for our staff and students.
Dr. Rohan Wickramasooriya is a having over 10 years of experience in applied geospatial research, particularly in integrated land use and transportation modelling. His research focuses on applying geo-simulation, spatio-temporal analytics, geo-visualisation and remote sensing techniques to understand complex dynamics in urban and regional systems.
