A group of SLIIT students have won “FOSS4G Seoul Best Oral Presentation” award for the best student presentation at the FOSS4G -2015 world conference held in Seoul , South Korea , 14th -19thSeptember 2015.
Thejaka Mahaulpatha , Pasindu Chandraseka , Dananjaya Thathsara and Irendra Koswatta, final year students of BSc(Hons) IT degree program, won this prestigious award for presenting their research paper titled “Landmark Based Path Planning and Linear Path Generation for Mobile Map Applications”. The presentation was based on their final year project which was initiated by OSGeo lab of SLIIT and was carried out under Ms. Nimalika Fernando’s supervision.
The winners grabbed the award in the presence of 500+ participants from 48 countries. FOSS4G is the annual recurring global event hosted by Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) and is the largest global gathering focused on open source geospatial solutions.
